Anyone use this company, and what are they really like. Seem impressive on Trustpilot with customer service.
Ive been using them for a couple of years. No issues so far.
B-)
ok while your with them ,
but when i transfered to another cheaper company it took 6 week or more to get my credit ( over payments ) back from them …and the amount to be refunded changed twice ( in their favour of course )
On this topic does anyone else have their energy company sending money back every year?
Through the summer always in credit, ready for the inevitable colder months, when the credit can be put to a good use. But, come October’ish, the credit is paid back.
I have lost count of the number of times I have asked for this not to be done.
Strange you should ask this as have recently transferred my electricity only account(no mains gas) to Pure Planet. They have reduced my direct debit and refunded £55 back to my account today. Never had this happen with any supplier before!
I think Octopus have a good reputation but possibly not the cheapest energy supplier at the moment. The company are not just energy suppliers, they have their fingers in a number of pies including schemes to mitigate against inheritance tax.
Been using them for a couple of years (electricity only) and in my area they can’t be beaten on price.
PM me if you’d like a referral code for £100 credit.
I mentioned before I’m with Igloo, sticking with them for now although they’ve just announced an increase from August I believe.
It works like this, I supply a reading each month (no smart stuff here) I get billed each month straight away on the reading. They suggest a monthly DD from time to time, I look at it and tally what I want to pay and adjust it accordingly, no inflated monthly payments to cover winter usage. I’m always in credit by at least one whole payment when the last one has gone out. Works well for now, they may get ditched in August but I’m loathed to go elsewhere to save just a few pounds because that’s all it will be, I checked a few months ago, savings about £35 per year.
Thanks for the replies guy’s. Discovered this week that all British Gas online customer’s are being moved to BG Evolve, whether they like it or not. Still awaiting a reply to my complaint about not giving my consent to this. But Cit Adv tell me that buried somewhere in their T&C will be a clause which say’s they can.
My guess is that BG are fearful of asking customer’s if they wish to change in case they vote with their feet, so don’t ask them and hope for the best. After 35 years! yes feeling a little angry with my treatment. Perhaps a change is on the horizon.
Also discovered that BG customer service is based in Cape Town SA. That was a surprise, always thought it was in the UK.
Thanks Ian, may take you up on that, as you can probably tell, “I’m not very happy”
Not sure how to PM
I’ll send you a PM.
I also have used them without issue and happy to recommend.
But what is going on with the energy sector?..there are now so many companies springing up and you can’t afford to be loyal to any of them due to volatile price swings.
Some of these companies have over 50 tariff’s, this must be so confusing to many folk who I’m sure end up overpaying.
I use Martin Lewis to keep me informed of better deals and his website/TV prog is excellent anyway…but I do find the whole thing bizarre.
Igloo as I mentioned above, just one tarriff. Ok it’s variable but as I said all simple and straightforward.
I do think these energy companies need looking at, make things more simple to understand.
Above all else, take control of your own usage, know what you use and how much you pay, as they say do the maths.
Just tried Igloo, they quote £30 a month more than Octopus. Just refined the quote and it matches Octopus, but I’m on 24month fixed so happy with Octopus for now.
I won’t have a ‘smart’ meter installed and i won’t pay by direct debt to an energy company.
Don’t leave me with much, if any choice.
I was with Scottish Power for a few years, they were very expensive and a nightmare to contact and deal with.
I changed to Octopus about 18 months. I saved £260 per year, and Octopus are very easy to deal with either by phone or e.mail.
I get a reminder every month to notify me my direct debit is due to be take. Another reminder to enter my monthly metre readings (elec and gas), and another reminder to notify me of my current balance. Would definitely recommend Octopus.
Octopus having arms everywhere?
