OEM alloy wheel size alternates

Hello,

1st post.

Just got hold of a 2.0i  2007 NC Roadster Coupe, (with the electric roof).

The current  tyres are about 5-6  years old and mixed makes. They are 205/50 R16.

My plan is to get the wheels refurbished and fit new rubber , (possibly all season tyres ??).

We also have a Suzuki Vitara 1.4 Alldrive.  I use seperate summer and winter wheels on the Vitara.

I noticed that the spec for my spare Suzuki wheels is very similar to the MX-5 alternate OEM wheels.

i.e.

Mazda 205/45 R17 on 7J x 17 ET55  5x 114.3  rims

Suzuki  215/55 R17  on 6.5 J x 17 ET50 x 114.3 rims

Does anybody know if my spare Suzuki wheels will be ok to use on the MX-5 whilst i get the originals painted and new tyres ?

Thanks

Tim

I think the Suzuki wheels use a 60.1mm centre bore, which will not fit onto the Mazda hubs which use 67.1mm

Thanks for that i did wonder about the centres.

I guess it’s gonna be axle stands and milk crates on the driveway then.

Same make - same type tyres are the golden rule. Previous owner doesn’t have a clue it seems. Also - sure they are R16? A seventeen inch wheel obviously need R17 tyres! The tyre fitter must have sworn a few times, while trying to fit R16’s!

Think you may need to re-read the OP - His car is on the standard 16 inch rims, but he notes that Mazda also fitted 17 inch rims as an option - hence his query…
