I know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, (given that most searches in the forum only bring results of people removing them after picking up a new old car), but I quite like it and, as a result, have just bought one from a chap who’s breaking his car for parts.
The only problem I have, now, is how to fit the bugger! I’m happy doing the actual measuring and drilling, etc., but really want to measure twice and only cut once!
Does anyone know how to get hold of the precise fitting position and location for the three holes it needs?

I knew there was one knocking around as I’ve lurked for a long time, so that’s what I’d hoped to find, but all searches had proved fruitless. Thanks man.
I’ve posted a query to the indicated user and, if I get the details, I’ll see if we can get a post for the garage section.
Am I missing something? Trying to fit a Mk1 (NA) spoiler to a Mk2 (NB)? Won’t work, the boot lids are different shapes.
More likely that I’m missing something, but I’ve seen NBs with that factory spoiler, so I don’t know what it is that I’m missing.
Any ideas?
Mk2 spoilers were different, superficially similar.
Factory NB MX5 spoiler
If you have actually got a Mk1 spoiler, well anything can be made to fit, with some filler, sanding. I doubt it could be made to fit well though.
Well, quality info and potentially a foolish move on my part. Live and learn, etc. I’ll check what I’ve picked up sand see what I can do.
For reference though the pic above was the only one I could find after searching around a bit, cos I couldn’t find any of the NB wing specifically.
Turns out the spoiler I bought is actually for a MK1, which is faintly irksome.
Ah well, lesson learned and back to the marketplace to try to move this one on and find a proper replacement for it…
Anyone selling a factory spoiler for an NB, ideally in Strato Blue?
Thanks for the help, Saz.
Yes, should get reasonable money for the MK1 spoiler, although bit of a pain to pack and courier.
Just looked up MX5 MK2 spoiler on ebay - there is an auction listing for a silver one. Could be others too and probably a few collect only bootlids with them on. No-one wants a bootlid with holes in it:-)
Sorry is it me or do they just look wrong😮
A bit marmite Adam; probably suit me better if the spoiler had a flat profile like the one earlier in the thread as fitted to the MK1. I have one of these on my black MK1 and personally like it. If I owned a MK2 would rather have one of these than not; perhaps just me, the OP and a few others:-)
Hate the big GT style spoilers or ducktails - bovril.
Many think so and so they’re often removed. I like it as I think it a good looking, fairly subtle spoiler. It’s not an actual spoiler by any means, but we’re not driving high performance cars anyway, so actual aero isn’t really the name of the game.
To me it looks like a fashion item that adds weight, drag and the opportunity for the accumulation of additional dirt while giving no performance benefit whatsoever.
Have to be honest, if anyone adds a spoiler and expects much in the way of performance gains they’re kidding themselves, unless they’re in a laser focused car at max chat on track and looking for a few extra tenths. The big whale tail on the old 911 Carrera was reckoned to add notably to grip in corners at over 120mph.
In corners.
Over 120mph.
Bottom line, it’s a styling mod only and I don’t think an extra tenth on the cD is going to make a lot of difference below 80, which tends to be roughly my vMax anyway.
I totally understand that many would choose not to have it, and that’s fine. This is my car and I like it, so I’m fitting one. After that, further discussion is a little pointless as it’s down to opinion only and there’s only one which counts for my car.
