Oil leak behind gearbox

hi

i have changed the oil in the gearbox.  This was difficult to see as I do not have much clearance under the car.

 

i noticed oil behind the gearbox.  Would you know where this may be from and if it is serious

ive looked again and it appears to be below the gearstick

There is an oil seal at the tail of the gearboc where the propshaft joins.

From this picture there is no proper view of that area, therefore we cannot track where the oil is coming from but that would be a possible.

What Drumtochty said. I just had mine replaced by Sam Goodwin; a couple of hours work requiring the brace bars, undertrays, exhaust and propshaft to be removed, then a five minute fix. Working under a lift gave me a good opportunity to wire brush and underseal many difficult to get to places. Best to let a garage do it with careful application of heat to rusted nuts and bolts, otherwise you will end up with lots of sheared bolts.
