- My model of MX-5 is: __3.5
- I’m based near: __Brighton
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Oil pressure gauge
Hi…evryone seems to agree that the oil pressure gauge isnt giving a real time reading of oil pressure
Wondered if anyone had tried replacing it with a proper one in situ rather than in a seperate place?
This has been talked about before, search MX-5 3.5 Oil Pressure Guage.
If you want to see real time oil pressure you’ll need to take out the oil pressure switch. in the engine that registers oil pressure, and replace it with an oil pressure sensor.
I am not sure the original guage, in the dash board, would need to be replaced at all, but I stand to be corrected on that.
Not found specific info… will report back when its done.
If you want something in the original binnacle then this:
seems to be the only option
I have a 3 gauge pod beneath the stereo with an oil pressure, temp and volt meter instead
Thanks, but im running with this…am far too ocd to have an imitation pressure gauge right in the middle of the instrument console!
Did you get anywhere with this? I have a spare instrument clustur on its way to me and I am going to try and change the oil pressure and engine temp gauges for real ones so that I can easily swap in/out.
Agreed,though it is quite expensive.
I have been following the development of this over on the Miata forum. I does seem to be well implemented, tested & almost OE looking- superficially that is, fitting doesn’t appear to be massively horrendous either.IMHO a good solution if you’re prepared for the price, especially if you are a FI user.
Clicked for the rotarytronics V2 gauge which I’ve wanted for ages, before the V2 was released - saving the video for whatever that screen is because that is awesome!
I’m going to search the channel for related stuff when I’m home, but just in case you don’t have anything on there; got any more details?
If you head over to mx-5 Miata net & search for rotarytronics & shiftyspec NC gauge you can get more detail right through development too.
Sorry, I have already researched these (FYI to anyone looking, the shifty35 one will fail your MOT due to removing required indicator lights for main beam) - I meant the satnav screen Completely Driven has added.
