Has anyone ever done an oil analysis as part of a maintenance schedule?
I am tempted to get one done, hoping to spot traces of bearing or shell material before it is too late. Or rather, hoping to prove no wear material is in the oil.
What is stopping me is that I have no history to compare against, so no trending is possible. So would a £30 chemical analysis of the oil actually tell me anything?
Has anyone done oil analysis? Does anyone have any base line or benchmark data that it would be useful to compare against?
My car is a mk3 2.0 2008, so particularly interested in any analysis on this engine.
