One hot wheel

After a morning of polishing I went for a quick spin, upon returning home I briefly touched each wheel only to find the front drivers far hotter than the other three.  Gareth has a previous post “Oh Bugger” which refers to sticking calipers, likewise I am comfortable replacing pads and greasing slides but Ive never done any work on a piston and have failed to find a FAQ.  I wonder if any one would be good enough to offer some guidance on how to properly free up the caliper.  Supprisingly it passed its MOT 20 miles (two weeks) ago, i’d have thought it would have shown up then?

No problem since

Hi DaveBRG5, many thanks.  I’ve just read the link its just the info I needed - so that looks like one evening in the garage this week.

Cheers IHC

I think that this is the first time that I have commented on the stuff on another forum. Most of the info in that set of posts is OK, but, never, ever use any lubricant other than brake fluid around calipers. WD 40 will rot the seals. I would never use a piston that has rust below the seal. I would never scotch bright a chromed surface either, you create tiny scratches which will lead to seal failure. Most of the rest is ok, Just remember, that when you push the middle pedal you need to be sure you’re going to stop.

edit…I’m going to move this to the garage section due to content
