Not wishing to trek half way across the county to get the car serviced at Freelance Mazda, we have used Drake and Fletchers Tunbridge Wells in the past but they have recently been sold to Invicta and trying to get through on the the phone yesterday to find out price of service/MOT and book I rather lost the will to live - I was on hold for about five mins, reception then answered and when I mentioned the word “book service” I was put through to the “automated booking services” before I could utter another word - well actually I didn’t get as far as the “booking service” I was just on hold listening to another recorded message for over 15mins by which time I was loosing the will to live and hung-up. Having redialled a bit later I did, under false pretences that my car was there, actually get to speak to a human only to discover the prices have gone through the roof. In the meantime I had spoken to the dealer (Whites) in Orpington, phone answered immediately by a person, who sounded MX-5 mad as soon as I mentioned the words. They are also quoting considerably less for the service, I mentioned the club and they immediately offered 15% off if join loyalty scheme - you don’t get anything off at Invicta. They would also collect and deliver the car for free - actually I recon their mechanics just want an excuse to drive a 5.
So the question is - has anyone used Whites at Orpington and would they recommend them?
Sorry not used them but have heard other members have used them, I use Canterbury Mazda as they are closer to me, hope you get the car sorted okay, I am sure your baby car will be fine in there hands, look forward to hearing the outcome and updates always good to know
Not used Whites for my MX5, but have been in there several times when looking to buy and they were very nice, Husband used them years back for other car on a regular basis and they seemed very helpful.
As we are local to Drake & Fletcher ( now Invicta ) they happily gave a discount on parts and collected out other car (Honda) for a service from our home and delivered it back to us once ready, we was even able to barter with them on the cost as we needed a couple of things done ! only bad thing i would say is they wouldnt give me a very good price for my old MX 5 when i wanted to trade it in, so i went to Ashford who gave me a great deal !
Canterbury were so rude i really felt like making a formal complaint ! but that was the salesman, so out of principal i would never use them !
Just spotted your post whilst relaxing at home in Orpington! I used TW Whites this year prior to joining the MX5 OC. I found them to be fine and charged a fair price for the service on my 06 MX5 sport. They reccomended that my aircon was recharged but I put this off until later with no fuss. Good customer experience - updates by phone etc… I have also bought some accessories through them, wish I’d had my membership though!
Thanks for info - went to Whites - we decided to take 5 up there and have a look round rather than them collect for free. Slight hickup when arrived - the guy I had spoken to on phone was off that day and although he had said he had booked it in they had no record of the booking!!! They didn’t make a fuss (and neither did I) and still said they would service and MOT that day no problems and - very happy with service and bill - will go back next year.
