Ok, so this may’ve been done to death in previous posts but I’m not having a lot of luck getting past, say Lotus Elise seats. I would like to know if anyone has had any success fitting other manufacturers seats into the MK1. I’ve read on nutz that ppl have fitted RX7-FD seats and RS Escort seats so I’ve been looking at sizes similar to that. Show us your pics if you have them or - for that matter - any styling mods/transformations in the cabin. I’m a big fan of interiors mods but want to stretch the imagination a little further than just chrome vent rings
What isn’t particularly obvious about MX-5 seats is that the driver’s and passenger seats are different shapes. Obviously designed to be a perfect fit in the cabin. You will need to consider this if you swap them. I fitted a heated seat kit in mine and had thought of swapping seat covers to even out the wear until I got the seats out and noticed the difference.
Maybe you could buy some aftermarket bucket seats that are designed to easily replace oem.

I fitted some “Driver” seats into my Roadster; these were a rare factory option.

An owner in Manila had his European-spec seats reshaped and retrimmed:

Thanks for the link Benny but really, I was looking at other manufacturers really to avoid the high cost of buying new. Looking at Starion/Celica/S2000/Alfa 147 seats on the fleabay at the mo - all interesting designs.
I like the re-shaped originals though. How hard can it be?
S2000 seats:

RX8 seats

Del Sol (CRX Mk3) seats

Fishnet Recaros (VWs etc) will also fit.
A cautionary note though; with the new MOT regulations, pay attention to fore-aft adjustment.
