Out for a drive while we can

Hi Mick, we’re out each day with the dog. A couple of routes that sees us out for about an hour or so. What I have noticed, some folk are aiming straight for us with absolutely zero concession in certain cases. I am fine with us taking avoidance action (in ALL cases) as we certainly want to try and avoid either of us getting infected. Question is, how do other folk know that we aren’t carriers? Answer is, they don’t but they are quite happy not to practice social distancing and avoiding other folk. Perhaps it’s a case of “he who dares, wins” ? As kids we used to play chicken, similar thing I guess but now with potentially life threatening consequences! If someone does make an attempt to social distance, we always say hello and thank them for their courtesy. Nothing wrong with that, although it is one of those skills that is sadly being lost nowadays. :slightly_frowning_face:

Some people are acting as if all is well, although we are in the midst of a deadly worldwide plague, what is the matter with these idiots, and why are they chucking all their old wipes etc in the street ? there again , these are probably the same trained monkeys that chuck all their McDonalds stuff out of the window as they drive along.
As they say, in a given group " there’s always one " but these “ones” are multiplying at a time when we all need to pull together in a positive way.

I believe the UK needs (a temporary) Italian Job lock-down for two weeks before this Easter weekend. Won’t happen of course. It’s collateral plague damage (just) that 9 London bus drivers should die not forgetting the cross contamination risks of every single individual having to face the public. There is of course no data on where the drivers got infected, but one question is, who else did they infect?

Not only was the UK unprepared for this plague, it is to me clear that much the same would have happened with a flu epidemic, which of course this is not. The staggering incompetence and lack of cohesive communications, basic supplies, and harsh though decisive emergency legislation knew no bounds. Our son is, as I write, bang in the middle of an utter s**t fest trying to keep public service personnel numbers stable.

The emergency plumber we needed yesterday? We kept separated as he fitted a new bog, sprayed our entire loo with some evil stuff, and we chucked his money out the window in a new food bag. Managed risk assessment. That’s the nearest we’ve been to another human in 3 weeks.

The tragic losses of public service lives is beyond comprehension.
Frankly, the loss of lives of idiots playing Russian Roulette with others, including nurses & doctors bound by their professional obligations is to me of much less consequence.
Our son is one of a small team of senior staff Trainer & Physio in the public sector and as such has no option but to be not only in close proximity of his huge head count of newbies, but must also train them with full body contact…PPE has no place. It would be impossible to get the job done. 3 of them had to go home with symptoms, and a 4th may be heading for ICU I think.

He is in exactly the same potential danger zone as these bus drivers, with zero protection. I’m more concerned now for him than I was when he was dealing with Afghan insurgents. At least he could spot these little shytes…and “deal” them with an SA80 set to auto,
Darwin would be turning in his grave.

Can empathise re. the cyclists. I was out for my one daily walk on Friday last week, on the roadside footpath of course, very few folk about & those who were, were rigorously exercising Social Distancing - including the large number of cyclists who were riding along the footpath despite hardly any traffic on the road.

Apart, that is, from the cyclist who rode straight into me from behind, almost knocking me over & then tried to tell me that I was in the wrong for suddenly stopping (at a Pedestrian Crossing as I needed to cross the street!)

Certainly some you’d not want landing on a ND’s exploding bonnet.
