Overnight Charges at Blyton

For the Blyton weekend, we have our Social event, which consists of our members staying Friday night, and Saturday night, which also includes our Club BBQ on the Saturday night. Over previous years, our members have camped, brought Motor Homes, and a member brings their caravan. This year ,people who are camping, are being charged an overnight fee, would that also apply to members bringing a Motorhome/Caravan ? Personally I think it is a bit unfair for people to be charged for the very limited and over crowded shower facilities at Blyton for this fantastic and exciting weekend.

As in the clubs track weekend in in June?

Thank you Phil for your comments, last year the owners of Blyton deemed that for the first time the club would have to pay for the use of the camping area and facilities available to the club over the weekend, this is also the case for this year. As requested by the Yorkshire area last year, we have increased the available toilets during the weekend and also located them closer to the far end of the camping area to reduce walking distance. To cover the cost of the camping and the extra toilets, including servicing, exceeds £1000 which comes out of the Motorsport budget. All the people that are partaking in activities on track and wish to stay overnight are having to pay for their night stop, I know that we encourage members to attend the event and enjoy the occasion along with the drivers, however I cannot see why people not going on track and just socialising should have the privilege to be subsidised by the motorsport budget.

May I point out that if you wanted to camp in the Lincolnshire area it would cost you £10 a night with no facilities.

Thank you Peter for the explanation. Should you require a provider of toilet facilities, the Company I work for, have an Accommodation Division, which provides toilet facilities , if you require me to get a quote, I will be happy to do so . They are experts in Event activities !

Phil, I would be interested in some costs for toilets for the Spring Rally, I’ll speak to you on email

Peter,

I think it would be better put that it is fair to spread the cost of the facilities on all those who use them, regardless of using the track or not, it is only a modest request but one that has become necessary to continue to keep the on track costs low and incentivised for members.
It is also one that the Blyton event budget soaks up the extra facilities alongside the charges from the venue. It is worth remembering that budget is member subscriptions and the motorsport budget has come out of the general events spend, which this event was previously supported under, just because it has changed names does not mean that the Clubs support to provide facilities changes.
