OWNERS CLUB RACE OF REMEMBRANCE TEAM

Owners Club Announce Team Entry into 2015 Race of Remembrance.

I am Happy to be able to let members know that the Team selection for the Clubs Entry into the Race of Remembrance has now been completed and can go to Press. The process for selection was carried out by, application, interview and driver assessment. To make the selection as fair as possible the process was carried out by committee, with the driving assessment being carried out by one person, that being Davie (No Legs) Birrell from Mission Motorsport.

The Committee comprised of the following people:

Paul Roddison, who is supplying the Race Car and providing full works support throughout the event.

Tony Thomas, current Hill Climb and Sprint Champion.

Jon Earp, Organiser of Race of Remembrance.

Peter McNicol: MX5 OC Motorsport Co-Ordinator.

The reason for the delay is due to making sure that all those that took part in the selection were made aware of the committees decision prior to going to press.

The Team will comprise of the following Club Members:

Richard Smith from Chesterfield, Team Captain, working within the Gas Industry

Jake Ringwood from Norwich, Driver, Apprentice Engineer (Jake has had to withdraw due to his sponsor not coming forward with funds, due to time scales Ben Tuck has been drafted in to fill his slot as he has the relevant documentation, equipment and funds to take part.

Andrew Patterson from Norwich, Driver, Professional Coach Driver

Andrew Malcolm from Thetford, Driver, Accountant

Fiona Elcoat from Tyne Tees, Team Manager, Radio Presenter/Coast Guard Officer

The Club has the opportunity to give away two  VIP Tickets to this great event which includes everything except for accommodation.  Below can be found the latest information about the Race of Remembrance:

Mission Motorsport Anglesey Circuit
Race of Remembrance 2015

So, here we are. In just a month the Race of Remembrance will return to Anglesey Circuit, this year with a sell-out event of 45 teams, including international entries!
Talking of the capacity grid, Mission Motorsport volunteer and Race Organiser Jon Earp said the response was "nothing short of incredible. For teams to be willing to commit financially nine months before the event proves we got something right last year. We sold 34 of the 45 grid places back in January at the Autosport Show, just the stuff of dreams!"
With the continued support of Anglesey Circuit, Mission Motorsport - The Forces' Motorsport Charity - are proud to announce even more content than the inaugural year that will include:

  • Friday free practice, press lunchtime session, day and night qualifying.

  • Friday Night Heroes Dinner.

  • Supercar Saturday, with lunchtime Invitational Ape Racing (Le Mans-style start) relay race.

  • Split Saturday evening and Sunday 1000km race.

  • Saturday Night Party-in-the-Paddock and fireworks display.

  • Unique pause in Sunday racing for pit-lane Remembrance Parade.

  • Live TV coverage with Motors TV and commentary from the Radio Le Mans team.

Trophies and Competitors:

The Trophy system has been widened to incorporate the following classes:

  • Heroes Trophy - Production cars <2000cc NA petrol engines & TD*

  • 2000cc (and Relay) Cup*

  • 1800cc (and Relay) Cup*

  • 1600cc (and Relay) Cup*

  • Invitational Trophy*

  • Independent Series Awards - Lotus Trophy & Caterham Trophy*^

With such unprecedented demand, the addition of the Invitational Trophy will allow teams - that don't sit comfortably within the generic Classes - to fight their own battles leaving the Heroes' Trophy firmly in the grasp of the grass-roots Club racer.

Another addition to the prizes for 2015; any race series bringing multiple teams to the event will automatically qualify for a series-specific award (on top of any class win) ensuring guaranteed race-within-race action. First to take advantage of this, Lotus Cup UK provisionally booked an incredible 10 places at the Autosport Show.
Talking of the entry list Earp said: " I'm particularly glad to see our first non-Military disabled team join us, Nathalie, Simon and their team-mates will be competing on a level playing field against able-bodied drivers, proof if it were ever needed that the MSA and British motorsport is breaking down those historic barriers to competition".

Spectators:

Racing in November brings with it the risk of inclement weather; an 80 metre marquee in the paddock will ensure warmth, sustenance and entertainment throughout the weekend, as well as a suitable venue for the odd party…

With the generous support of AC Entertainment Technologies and Production Light & Sound we are also able to bring three nights of music to the event. Bands, both local and international join the party and with ample catering and bar facilities (including our own Bobage Brewing beer!) a good night for all is guaranteed.

Hospitality will also host the ‘living museum’, a collection of classic and modern F1, LMP and other cars of significant interest. These will also take to the track during Supercar Saturday for exhibition laps bringing the glorious wail of V8 and V10 engines to the beautiful Welsh coastline.

Accommodation can always be a challenge come race weekend. Step forward the incredibly cool Snoozebox who are bringing their innovative and stylish portable hotel to us. With rooms and balconies overlooking the track you’re guaranteed both a great nights sleep and view! Please use the link to take you direct to their booking page.

Finally, after the success of last year’s Supercar Saturday the team have worked hard to secure some extra special machinery this year. With the kind help of some incredibly generous benefactors (both industry and private owners) the line-up grows daily and - with the help of the guest drivers - will ensure smiles all round as the public experience flying laps in road, race, rally, drift and supercars…
