P & A Wood Rolls Royce Run/Visit

Hello All,

The run/visit to P & A Wood Rolls Royce near Dunmow, Essex during June may have to be cancelled. Unfortunately the volunteer who kindly offered to organise the event has had to withdraw due to changes in circumstances. Would anyone else like to take on this event as there did seem to be a lot of interest in it.

P & A Wood describe themselves as “an authorised Rolls-Royce Motor Car Dealer, Bentley Service Dealer and Rolls-Royce and Bentley Heritage Dealers, we specialise in sales, service and spare parts for the entire range of pre and post war Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars from 1904 to the present day.” They have a showroom of current Rolls Royces and an extensive collection of heritage motors. They also do restoration and coachwork. By all accounts it’s a fascinating and enjoyable visit.

With the twin commitments of the Crank Up Run in May and general AC duties I’m not in a position to take on the organising of this event should we want to go ahead with it anyway. As far as I can see it’s a case of contacting P & A Wood and booking a day to visit, then letting members know the details. It would be good if there was a run on the way, but that only really entails meeting up somewhere else and running in convoy to Dunmow.

It doesn’t have to be in June as we now have a new event then and there’s a huge gap in the Eastern calendar between Helmingham on August 5th and the National Rally on the 30th September so that might be an option. You won’t be left on your own with it either should you offer to take the event on as there’s plenty of help and advice available from myself and others across the Region.

If you’d like to go to P & A Woods and could cope with the phoning them to arrange a date and then letting members know about the details on here, or you’d like some reassurance as to what organising this will entail, please reply on here and/or e-mail me eastern@mx5oc.co.uk

Thanks!

Karl

i used to know these guys many years ago when I had a wedding car business and ran rolls

I’m delighted to let you know that Graham has kindly offered to take on the organising of this event. Thank you!

As soon as we have more details, including a new date, we’ll update this thread.

The tours at P. A. Woods are fully booked for this year. We have our name down for a tour in 2019. When I have more information I will post details

I visited P A Woods many years ago, seeing the vintage and classic Rolls being stripped and fully rebuilt was very interesting.  The level of craftsmanship and detail being applied was impressive. I would highly recommend this visit.
