Hi folks,

After being stood for a few months my car has developed a P1497 EGR Valve Motor Coil ‘2’ Open or Shorted. Anybody had experience with this one? I did a quick google and most people are reporting a faulty ECU (hope not!!) but in these cases they have said that multiple EGR codes are thrown whereas I’m only getting one.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Mine put this code on and it put the fault in the ecu permanently so engine light came on every time after a few minutes, I just took the bulb out of the display and put it back in for MOT time

Did it affect the drive at all?

Had no effect at all ran it for years like that
