P3 Gauge?

Has anybody bought the P3 gauge, as sold by MX5Parts?

Apparently it displays:

  • Coolant Temperature
  • Intake Air Temperature
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature
  • Throttle Position
  • Vehicle Speed
  • RPM
  • Shift-Light
  • Battery Voltage
  • 0-60 timer
I had one on my BMW, specifically to display Oil temperature. It was a good piece of kit, very easy to install (if a bit expensive).

Looks like the MX5 version doesn’t do that though? If you have one, can you confirm?

What I’d really like is an OBD gauge that displays Oil Temp and Oil Pressure, but can’t find one like that…

I’m sorry to say but I just think that it’s  just another unnecessary (most of its info is already in the ND’s display), expensive (£346.46 + p&p), bolt-on gadget with a miniscule display that needs to be switched from one function to another which will only serve to distract the driver from doing what he’s supposed to be doing.  What it needs to be really useful is another expensive accessory : a co-driver!

That pretty much sums up the whole “ipad on the dash” infotainment system IMHO! No wonder modern cars have to have anti-collision radar, lane keeping systems, etc. Driver too busy updating his facebook status to look where he’s going!

Very true, personally I don’t use “infotainment” in any way, shape or form, and systems like “lane keeping” I’ve switched off.
