Paint Code MX5 NC Mk 3

Where oh where have Mazda hidden the paint code on my 2012 Mk 3 NC. I’ve looked everywhere I can think of to no avail. Any Mk3 owner out there can help me ?

Unlikely to be anywhere except than with the dealer (via chassis number).
There are quite a few previous threads on this, if you use the search facility. Only about 12 colours to choose from, so you should be able to identify it from a chart. See the previous threads.

Roadster Robbie,I have a MX5 2010 reg 2.0 Sport Tec roadster,V.I.N JMZNC18F600215150 Red copper metallic colour.Please can you inform me of the possible paint colour &code ,also would you know what it is classed as ,a MK1,MK2,MK3 or what? as this is not on the registration document.Thanks in advance.Will(Timmy287)

My MK 3.75 Copper Red Mica is 32V, which I believe is the same for all?

It is indeed 32V, Copper Red.

I’d describe your car as an NC facelift, commonly referred to as a MK3.5 or NC2.

Thanks for the response. Someone told me they thought it might be called True Red, but I don’t know what they based this on as the log book just says Red.

Anyway Roadster Robbie is n the case for me now, so I will soon know.

If it’s a solid red then, for a 2012 car, it’s almost certainly True Red - code A4A - which was one of the colour options when I ordered mine.

I’ve still got the brochure & the paint codes are stated in there for each available colour.

I think the only other 2012 Mk 3.5 red was Copper Red - more of a ruby colour & pearlescent/mica, not solid; code for that’s been quoted above.

Copper Red was replaced with Zeal Red when the Mk3.75 came along - another pearlescent/mica colour, more of a burgundy hue, code 41G

Interesting, as my 3.75 is definitely Copper Red Mica 32V as the main dealer had to pay for a repair.

It’s True Red, paint code A4A.

Hmm. I’m looking at a UK NC3 (Mk 3.75) brochure, and the available colours are listed as:

SOLID BODY COLOUR
True Red - A4A

METALLIC, MICA AND PEARLESCENT BODY COLOURS
Aluminium Silver Metallic - 38P
Copper Red Mica - 32V
Crystal White Pearlescent - 34K
Dolphin Grey Mica - 39T
Sparkling Black Mica - 35N
Stormy Blue Mica - 35J

A later brochure then adds
Jet Black Mica - 41W
Meteor Grey Mica - 42A
Zeal Red Mica - 41G

but removes Copper Red Mica, Sparkling Black Mica, Dolphin Grey Mica

So it looks as if both Copper Red and Zeal Red were available on the 3.75, but in different years.

Thanks for that Robbie and thanks to all others who responded, I can now order the touch up paint from MX5 Parts and declare the thread closed.
