I want to paint the gearbox, diff , the girder thing next to drive shaft and a few other parts in the engine bay silver.
Does anybody have any recommendations For the best looking paint and hard wearing not chipping easily.
I am trying halfords engine aluminium paint as it does not have to be cured at high temperature . I just testing this on a piece of scrap metal to see what it looks like and then I’ll try to chip it.
Personally, I’d worry more about painting the suspension and sub frames, as they start to go rusty within twelve months. (Yours are probably past it now) The PPF is - or was - treated against rust - about the only thing that was.
However - as the saying goes - “Whatever turns you on”.
Rustolium titanium silver is superb stuff. I have done my cam cover & wheels with it & the finish is great. It goes straight onto bare alloy OK too…in the past I did my motorcycle forks & swingarm with it and it lasted for years with no chipping at all. The only thing to be aware of really is that it is quite slow to dry.
