3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ paint respray

Hello everyone, recently gotten myself an mx5 summer project. Currently fixing rust on body and currently respraying paint.

I’ve gotten 35j paint from Halfords however when paint is on the car it is a very dull purple unless in direct sunlight and then it looks great.

The rest of the paint doesn’t look purple in the shade, rather the stormy blue.

So long story short is there any tips or tricks for the respraying of the paint or will polishing have any affects?

Upload some pics, first two showing the purple and you can slightly see how it’s blue in sunlight.
Third picture (quarter panel) just to show the blue colour which is what the respray looks like in direct sunlight.

Have you applied a gloss lacquer on top of the paint?

Yep I have applied few coats.
So I have been told about a “drop coat” ?
Maybe will respray and try that

I have always found with bodywork that after hours of work, the result is never very good! I would try a different source for the paint and then test it. However, you can spray that surround in a chrome finish or matt black
