Painting plastic

Advice needed please. My daughter has a 2011 Audi A1 and is wanting to refurb her alloy wheels, rather then purchase new ones .
The wheels in question, are standard Audi for that model and have four fairly large plastic trims, located in each wheel, fixed with screws.
For the refurb these will be removed and then put back after the refurb is complete.
Happy with the refurb price and know the garage, but he does’nt touch the plastic. A job for dad.
What is the best way to clean, prime, paint and laquer these trims. Thinking Black.
As they are in an area of wear and tear, any tips would be appreciated.

Use a plastic primer on them. Clean/prep prepare as you would do a metal panel that’s it basically. Just make sure any finish paint and lacquer is suitable to go on plastic. I’ve painted a few plastic parts and they’ve turned out very good.

I don’t know if plastic primer comes in different colours, but you could put a grey primer over the plastic primer ready for the black coat.
