Painting rocker cover

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place for this, but i was thinking of painting my rocker cover, possibly something like this:

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and could give me some advice?
Cheers, Rob

I’ve painted a cam cover before using Plasticote; the gloss or satin finish works better than matt. The most important bit is in the preparation. Clean the cover thoroughly; I finished with some wonder wheels on it (acid).

I masked off the flat for the oil filler. The PCV rubber does lever out, but it will be hardened, and you may need to get a new one.

Black is the practical choice (no cleaning!).

When you say “Black is the practical choice (no cleaning!)” how do you mean?

There are lots of colour choices but the only advice I would offer is go satin or matt finish rather than gloss.

This was one I did on a previous car

Cheers for the advice guys, hopefully I can get it done soon and upload the finished article on here.

One of the first things I was planing on ! Gold car ??? Colour of rocker ?

Ideally you will get it chemically cleaned and bead-blasted first, always use an acid etch primer, ordinary aerosol paint is OK temperature-wise, IMHO satin is a better finish to gloss.

Here is one I did a few years back in RAL Melonengelb satin with the letters done in BRG.
