Panasonic cassette player replacement screen wanted

Hi, new here
Bought original cd + cassette players from a guy in the us, unsurprisingly usps damaged them and broke one of the screens on the cassette player.
Don’t know if they exist but if anyone knows where or if i can get a replacement screen from someone, any info would be great. Also if anyone knows how or where I can fix the crack in the plastic around the screen would like to know.
Thanks, Alex

You’d probably pick up a JDM spec one of those from a UK breaker for peanuts (I’ve probably got a spare I’m my garage even), I’d bet that you could swap the facia over from one of those.

Was thinking I could do that, turns out no one i’ve asked has one. there is one on autolink but the screen is in bad condition and theres one in a job lot on ebay but i dont think theyll want to sell it on its own lol.
do you have some contacts for breakers i could get?

Not too big on breakers, I would have suggested Autolink. Have you tried Suffolk Mazda?

Nothing showing up when i search radio/cassette etc
The breakers ive messaged said they have a hard time finding them

If the one you have is US spec then radio reception will probably be a a problem. Although medium wave AM and FM broadcast bands are broadly similar the frequency spacings are different.

On FM only odd digits after the decimal are used. So you can tune 88.3, 88.5, 88.7 etc but of you need to tune to 88.6 you will be out of luck.

On AM the US stations are in 10kHz steps but 9KHz in the UK. While Talk Sport transmits on 1053, 1071 & 1089kHz a US spec unit will only tune to 1050, 1060, 1070, 1080 & 1090.

If you want an original unit just so it looks right then a Japanese unit will do the job fine.

dont really need the radio function tbh, got some cassettes lol, nice to know though. cant find any in the uk, knew someone going to the us so just thought id grab those for like $40 and get them to bring both back.

Is there a way to change that or is it just region specific? would i be better off getting another broken one and using both to build a uk spec one in good condition?

I doubt if it would be possible to change tuning ranges and steps on any of them. From a manufacturing point of view adding a simple US/UK switch would cost pennies. However when you are making thousands those pennies add up so they are just built to two different specs.

So if you don’t need the radio reception it doesn’t matter which one you go with. I would guess that any front panel would fit any unit.

I’ll just throw in another bit of doom mongery. As all these units are going to be a few years old now the drive belts and pinch wheels will probably be in a less then perfect condition.

if the cassettes dont work, i have the cd player and if that doesnt work i can always use my phone lol. thanks for the info didnt realise they were different before.
have to find another for parts, going to take a while, but itll be worth it imo. they look great, and i dont see them fitted ever.

what would i need to swap over to make it uk spec? im going to go buy this one for parts
