(Park) Brake Warning light

Which switches/sensors are involved in activating the (red) brake warning lamp on the dash? Obviously the handbrake switch, but what else is involved? Brake fluid level? Pad wear? Anything else? Car is an '09 2.0 PRHT

The reason for asking is that occasionally (maybe once in a 20 mile journey) mine lights up while driving. The pads are fine as is the fluid level. The handbrake switch appears to be working properly. The light typically goes off again after 20 or 30 seconds. It doesn’t appear to be related to application of the brakes either.

Make sure that the brake fluid is really up to the maximum, just being a little bit bit low can cause the warning light to come on.

Thanks - The level was about 1/2 way between Min and Max. This could well fit with the behaviour I was seeing as it was often when accelerating uphill or on a bumpy surface. Level sensor is at the front of the reservoir, I think?

I’ve topped it up to Max now so I’ll see how it goes.

As Robbie says, below the full mark can activate the warning light, topping up should fix it.
Do check the pad thickness, signs of they could be wearing down.
