The plan is to start from Tesco’s at Thetford (IP24 2RL, N 52 deg 25.389’ E 0 deg 46.345’).
We must be there at 9.45 in time to explain all and hit the road for 10.15.
James will then issue postcode/co-ordinates for the first destination (somewhere in Cambs) together with some information on the route etc.
This first leg is should take around an hour. There will be toilets and refreshments available at this stop.
Once again James will issue postcode/co-ordinates for the second destination (somewhere in Suffolk) with further things to beware of on the route.
Hopefully we will be ready to leave by around 11.45 as the second leg should take around an hour and fifteen minutes.
There will be again be toilets and refreshments available for us to use.
We aim to be ready to leave the second rendezvous by around 13.30 as the return to Thetford should take around forty-five minutes.
There the results will be checked and the shortest route navigator/driver announced, the run total mileage is somewhere just over the hundred and it will take in Cambs, Norfolk and Suffolk
For those without a Sat Nav there are a couple of options:
1 Team up with somebody that does have a Sat Nav and travel in convoy
2 James can provide an overview map showing location of destinations and they plot their route manually using a Road Atlas in the time honoured manner.
Hi I am up for this one, late decision, see you at Thetford. There is a rumour that Kev Allen will also be coming. Hed better be Im round his for a cuppa at 8.30.
Just got clearance for this so will see you at Thetford in the morning.
Just a note for anyone traveling down the A11 tomorrow morning, Snetterton are hosting the British Superbike series there. So firstly there will be millions of bikes about and secondly based on last year there were several Police cars about so take it steady.
glad you had a good run, wish I had done it now, had areally nice run back home from Tesco with my sat nav on “shortest route” and discovered some very nice new roads just south east of Thetford, then spent several hours trying to undo one bolt on the roadster.!!!
Who’s going to provide a brief write up and a photo or two for the newsletter please ?
PERFECT FUN in beautiful weather. Thanks Mandy and James for your efforts that were well appreciated by us all. We particularly enjoyed the Upware to Swaffham Prior section of fen road, which was, as they often are, an extreme challenge as could be seen by the gashes in the tarmac on the bigger jumps???
Many thanks Anne & John.
PS I did manage to replace my boot light back at home, just a little more bravery pulling it off the car and then, the second puzzle, removing a holder that clearly hadn’t been moved for 6 years plus. Thanks to all for the help and advice.
A very enjoyable day. Thank you to all involved with the organising.
I managed to take a nice photo of AK55ZGLon the move - if the owner would like to get in touch I can e-mail you a copy. My e-mail is larkottery@aol.com
