PAST Event - Easter Monopoly Run to Mercedes World April 12th

Easter Sunday Monopoly Run to visit Mercedes World at the famous Brooklands Test Track and Motor Museum

Mercedes world is the Pride of MB UK, a huge three story building brimmed with the latest models and exhibits, a test track, Café, boutique and free entry!

The day has essentially 3 parts:

The Monopoly Run: James Huggins has some fab plans for the run down; he is going to take in some of the London sights (No congestion charges on a Sunday! Sorry Boris) as well as some of the famous landmarks from the Monopoly game, the start arrangements are yet to be finalized but expect to be meeting around the Chelmsford area at around 8:00am.

Mercedes World: The description from their web site: “As the flagship of Mercedes-Benz in the UK, and located on the famous Brooklands site, Mercedes-Benz World is a memorable day out for any motoring fan.

Not only can you get hands-on with all our cars; you can take the opportunity to test drive the latest models around the handling circuit, or put both the car and your driving skills to the test with one of our various Driving Experiences.

And although driving is our first passion, it’s not all we have to offer. Inside, you can take a walk around the exhibitions and get up close to the famous Gullwing and Maybach. In the cinema, you can learn about the history of the Mercedes-Benz brand; and in the simulator you’ll be transported down a production line.

Because all this can work up quite an appetite, our Café 1886 and Gullwing Restaurant offer a range of food and drinks, from light bites and sandwiches to three-course dining with trackside views.”

Additionally Easter Sunday feature the following extra special treats:

 • 40 Years of AMG presentation

 • Silver Arrows Competition

 • Silver Arrows Display Team

Peter

No problem Peter, only to glad to have you guys along, meet details and route added to the first post.

Jamie

Forgot to tell you Mandy isn’t coming (she doesn’t like Mercs, just Mx-5s) so I’ll be bringing my granddaughter Aimee.

Do you fancy a really early start at Sainsburys? We could also collect others on the A140/A14/A12 if necessary.

[::(] I wont be able to make it due to the fact that i’m a baker and will be up to my eyeballs in Hot x Buns!! [::(] but hey lets hope you get some good weather and have a good day… I’ll be thinking of you… [:$]

Subject to weather (it’s forecast rain! [:(] ) and managing to get out of bed early enough to get to Colchester for 7.30am on Easter Sunday, then Emma and I may bring our 2 small boys for what sounds like a smashing day out!

Cheers!

Subject to my car being rebuilt in time (and it’s not looking too good at the moment) then Tracey and I will be joining in the fun!!

Can you add Tom and I to the list, as this sounds fab [:)]

My Sat-Nav says Longwater at 6:15? should get to destination 07:30

Sainsburys 6.00am (for a 6.15 departure) it is.

Checked the web site today and the following experiences are available (amongst others)

AMG - 60 minute drive £170, 15 minute passenger ride £30

Off-road - 60 minute drive £110, 15 minute passenger ride £30

You can test-drive any Mercedes model (cost varies) and kids (over 1.5m high) can drive an A-Class for £40

You can also get a photo or video of your experience (not sure of cost)

I suggest anyone that ones to do any of the above phone Mercedes Benz World on 0870 400 4000 to book in advance and avoid dissapointment.

See you Sunday…

We have a leaflet for the AMG rides, they are doing ten minute rides for just £10.00!!!

see me sunday for details.[;)]

James, See you at 6:15 @ Longwater[:D]

I’ll be coming along too.

Thanks to James for sorting the route, and for the 12 cars that got up at sily o’clock to make the run.

Mercedes Benz World was really quite something, the future for all brand names? saw a simialar thing at Cadbury’s recently…

Anyway did anybody see my SLR in the customer collection area…I wish, would still keep a five though!

Hope you all got home safe

Jamie

Great run thanks James! Next time lets do a bit more of driving through ole London town (especially if we are on a quieter day of the year?!).

I hope the accident on the way back (A3 dual carriageway) didn’t cause too many issues - was it Glynn stopped and assisting when we went past?

MBW was great fun - boys loved the Easter Egg hunt and I got a £10 passenger ride in an awesome AMG prepared S Class - amazing roadholding and grip for such a massive and heavy beast!

Stopped over in st1:placest1:cityLondon and took boys to the sights and on the underground - they loved it!

Cheers!

any photos ?

a line of 5s on Tower Bridge, or in front of Buck House, or going around on the millenium wheel or what ever…? [;)]

I have a few - if i remember i’ll post some up when i get home.
