Hi …sifting through Utube mx5 videos and found one including method of rebooting PCM(ECU) this is starting engine, taking it ip to 4_5 000 rpm, waiting for revs to go down to idle, turn off for 30 secs, then start again. Truth or witchcraft?
Hmmm, that’s interesting. I wonder if the same can be done on the ND2?

Cd be wrong and often am but…MAF is a sensor that gives out a voltage relivant to airflow and temperature. TF it has no way of adjustment other than cleaning. Surely the rpm raise etc forces the PCM(ECU) into relearning if a new MAF or any other mod ( intake/ exhaust etc) has been added.
Guess its easier to say than " calibrating the PCM to accept different MAF values realtive to other engine sensor inputs"
I’ve never seen this procedure written in any Mazda documentation. I think that the revs drop after holding a fast idle for this amount of time to safeguard against the catalyst and surrounding components overheating as there is no airflow going over them.
I haven’t heard of this particular approach either.
Could another option be to disconnected the battery for 10 mins or so, then reconnect and go for a spirited drive?
