Just when we thought it was safe…
After a great deal of planning we had brought together a fantastic and safe drive out, one that could be organised safely, conforms to all the rules and regulations and that could see lots of us head out for a drive, then it all changed ! So plans have been put on hold for now and hopefully when things start to improve we can resurrect the drive alongside our traditional Sunday Runs.
As far as Club activity goes 2020 will sadly be known as the lost year. (a handful of Lost Rally T Shirts and Caps) are still available from the Club shop!) but we are not letting that daunt spirits and planning is well underway for our 2021 calendar, we will be transferring many events from 2020 that we were unable to do into the 2021 calendar, adding a few new ones and looking to plan an Inter-Area Meeting locally. Peak Rail near Matlock are keen to have us back, they already have bookings from many clubs including The TVR and Lotus Owners club and we are also talking to The Sandtoft Trolley Bus Museum.
Looking ahead into 2021, currently the plans take in
- Ten or more Sunday Runs
- Two Long Weekends away
- Inter Area Meetings
- Tech Nights
- Spring and National Rallies (dates and locations to be confirmed in December)
We are planning to have better news to share with you all at the beginning of December, please keep an eye on the website and forum for updates.
Club calendar calling
The next edition of Soft Top Hard Top is on the way, in it are the details of how to get one of your photos on The Club’s 2021 Calendar, it would be great if a member from the Peaks and Pennines areas name was on the credits!
Details on how to submit your photograph found here
And finally…( who can remember Cyril Fletcher on Thats Life?)
A big thank you to those of you who have submitted photos or articles already to Mike (Humpty) Hall for the Peaks and Pennines newsletters, he would appreciate more for the next edition.
You might be interested to know that Club membership nationally crossed over 8,000 during the summer and while things are quiet a lot is being put in place behind the scenes both nationally and locally, to ensure that when things can start happening again the Club is ready for you! I will tell you more as soon as I can.
We know there are many challenges facing us all at the moment and especially in the coming months, we would just like to say that your continuing support to the MX-5 Owners Club means a great deal to us all in these difficult times.
We hope that we will continue to see you on and offline over the months ahead,
Meantime, please stay safe
