Will,
For what this is worth, I’ve just had the entire chassis of my own Mk1 re-engineered. I know my car, had it 16 years.
I was “epically ignorant” about coil-overs, but after a lot of homework, and budget awareness, I took a chance and plumped for the Koni SRT ( non adjustable) Street Kit.
Sensible ride hight for my tastes, which was a big part of the cake mix.
I had a long chat with Larkspeed who were very helpful ( not to mention one of the cheapest) and suffice to say the coil-overs have transformed the driving experience.
Meister, Tein etc were desirable but out of budget.
Mind you, everything else is new or refurbed underneath. I cannot comment on longevity or such things…it’s only a month on but I test drove it through some hard local twisties to be greeted with zero roll, decent compliance, and in general very near to the chassis feel of out Mk2.5 Sport.
Time will tell, but amazed so far.
