Peter james insurance help

A little disappointed after my call with Peter James insurance. I thought they would be more accommodating being the owners club goto company.

I have an 11 plate kendo that I pick up on Saturday, so doing the normal insurance hunt. Unfortunately Peter James will only insure for less than 6000 miles use per year, stating its because of the age!!!

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me so will probably go with Tesco!!

Try Aviva Zero, choose your own annual mileage etc. I went with them for my daily driver then they came good on price (separate policy) for my ND1.

Your age or the age of the car ?

Pretty sure one of the recent changes was to allow higher mileages on the NC and ND cars
NA and NB were always unlimited.

Gave me a max of 6k due to the cars age. Seems mental to me! Their loss i’ve gone with tescos, shame though as insurance discount was a big bonus for joining the club!

In my experience the insurance companies associated with the club are usually worse than most others. Lancaster for example had terrible reviews.

Given the nature of their business, I’m sure you’ll always find negative reviews…

As for Lancaster, they dealt with a write-off on my old NA very well. I couldn’t fault the service and I’ve used them on and off since 2015, including all my time with an NC2 and 2yrs with an ND1. I’m with A-Plan/Howden this year.

I think it’s important to remember that every policy, person and circumstance is different. As a result, companies/policies that work for one owner, won’t work out for another.
Peter James weren’t competitive for me again this year, for whatever reason. But I don’t see that as negative - it’s simply the quote/answer they get from their systems, after the input of your details. And you either like the answer, or you don’t

Out of interest, how many miles were you looking to be insured for?

To be honest its my first MX-5 and really unsure how many miles, but I intend to comute to work some days so could be around 10k.

Just thought putting a strict 6k on a car ‘because of its age’ seemed harsh.

Same story with my ND. I recently heard that they removed the 6,000 mile limit for NCs and NDs, so I called them up a little before Xmas as I do about 8,000 a year. The 6,000 limit was still in place.

It seems like some of the PJ benefits only kick in after 2 years MX5OC membership.

Hi.

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you haven’t done so already.

Dan.

Obviously not unlimited mileage, I’ve been an OC member since 2019…

The lady I spoke to back in August was quite rude, she immediately told me If I was currently paying less than £500 I was wasting my time talking to her!!

30AE BBR220 with lots of mods & 23 plate S3 combined policy £689 with Admiral.

try ADRIAN FLUX, I have been with them 10 year with 1992 Eunos always competitive , I never do Auto renew and haggle if price not right on renewal not been able to get better from others.
