the curated event at Bicester Heritage, and to feature in printed Clubs Journal

- Special access and benefits for MX-5 Owners Club members

The MX-5 Owners Club is pleased to announce a starring role at the upcoming Petrolicious
Drivers’ Meeting at Bicester Heritage, where it will join a select group of UK car clubs in a
joint activity inside the specially curated, 200-car strong event.

Californian-based Petrolicious creates quality, original videos and articles for classic car
enthusiasts that celebrate the inventions, personalities and aesthetics that ignite a
collective lust for great machines the world over.

The first ever Petrolicious Drivers’ Meeting, to be held on Sunday, May 12 at Bicester
Heritage, marks the first Petrolicious event to be held outside of North America. The former
RAF bomber base in Oxfordshire will house a curated selection of vehicles that range from
Rambo Lambos to homologation specials, a vintage Williams grand prix car (with matching
transporter) to an ex-works Colin McRae Subaru Impreza WRC car.

The group of 200-some cars is a hand-picked collection that celebrates tastefulness and
diversity, but with talks from former racing drivers, screenings of new and classic
Petrolicious films, and an interwoven presence of artwork around the venue, the Drivers’
Meeting will be much more than a standard Sunday morning car show.

The MX-5 Owners Club will be joining a limited selection of other premium UK car clubs in a
Joint Clubs Display, which will see each participating club nominate a car from their
membership that has a particularly outstanding story.

The vehicles will be presented alongside their stories at the Drivers’ Meeting, where
attendees will be invited to vote for their favourite story. The winning vehicle and club will
be featured in an article on the Petrolicious website.

MX-5 Owners Club members are invited to pre-purchase their tickets using the supplied
Code (available here), which will give them access to a Members’ Lounge with coffee, other
amenities and special benefits to help them get the most out of the day.

Ticket Booked, looking forward to this.

Thanks

Kevin

Booked, looks an interesting venue. Possible future Rally site?

Was being considered for this year, possible for next.

For anyone who hasn’t booked a ticket, I received an email from Footman James (after I purchased my ticket) for a free draw for a £60 vanity photo shoot of your car. Enter the code PETFJ19 when booking to enter the draw. I don’t know if multiple codes can be entered during booking.

£60 seems pretty reasonable for a set of photos:

Are there any arrival instructions; I understand cars entered using the MX5OC’s code will be part of a joint club display?

Ticket booked

I understand the joint club display features one car selected by each club. I’ll not let on which car will represent the MX-5 OC.

There are no special parking arrangements for general club attendees so far as I’m aware. Unless you’ve seen some info I’ve not?

Ok.

Grr, problems with a 20 year old Meta immobiliser not deimmobilising might mean me not coming to this. I suspect turning up in an old jag will be seen as uncool (not old enough to be a classic, but old enough to be a banger)

Thankyou for this, had a great day out, amazing cars

Lovely event this. A lot of cars in the main carpark, which was almost as much a pleasure to stroll around as the event, but this didn’t translate to crowds inside. I thought it would peak at lunchtime, but it never did. Nice atmosphere. Great cars on display, and whoever was responsible for the display parking played a blinder. Fantastic venue, the buildings really make it. Gutted I couldn’t get the MX going, and instead, turned up in the tank.

But, I didn’t vote for the Le Mans. I voted for the Pagoda Merc (toss between that, the MGB and the Baby Austin). It had the better story I felt.

Hope it does become one of our rally venues, though perhaps the competition entries need to be expanded, as everyone will want to park “infield”.

Had a really good day  agree car displays were great, by the end of the day I had taken almost 450 photos.
