- My model of MX-5 is: NC2
- I’m based near: Derby
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: headlight bulbs
Hello
Wanting to change the headlight bulbs(dipped) and side lights on my 2012 Kuro. Narrowed it down to either Philips GT200 or Philips White Vision Ultra - has anyone fitted either of these ?
Thanks
I’ve gone for Philips GT200 myself after readying many reviews. Auto Express have a good article. Not fitted them yet. Problem now is finding sidelights that match the colour.
No experience with either of those bulbs, but out of curiosity is there any reason why you have decided against Osram Nite Breakers (which are normally regarded as the best upgrade)?
Take a look at the Auto Express review I mentioend above.
I don’t think it’s regarded the best anymore. Night Breaker only scored 3.5
“The Night Breaker’s overall ranking was hurt by a poor beam-width test – without that it would be on four stars with the Ring”
Philips GT200 got 5 stars.
“Despite renewed competition from fellow original-equipment supplier Osram, Philips continued its run of success, retaining the H7 crown alongside the H4 from last year. It was helped by having two top-performing bulbs, both of which showed they were the class of the field by wining all our tests. Philips claims plus 200 per cent improvement for the GT200 over the minimum requirements, but in this top headlamp set, it seems a little modest – we saw an average increase near 270 per cent.”
That’s why I was tempted by the Whitevison Ultra - at Powerbulbs they come with a free set of matching sidelights…
I’m not sure that I’d give too much credence to Auto Express’s reviews - they seem to be influenced by advertising spend more that real product reviews, and they always seem to have their “favourites” in each category.
Let us know how you get on with the Philips.
I put a set of the GT200 in my previous car a 2014 Mini Cooper and they made a good difference - Mini’s use H4 bulbs which are rubbish though as they do dipped and main
