Play in nearside front wheel

Recently I have noticed that there is some play in the nearside front wheel. I’m thinking there is an issue with steering components somewhere. Does anyone know of likely issues?

The symtoms are like this: I detect no handling issues when driving. A couple of times I did hear a sound like a loose wheel when turning tight right with a little bit of speed. That made me think that wheel nuts were loose and that’s when I found the play in the wheel. I can grab hold and move it about, not much but enough to concern me (it ain’t perfect). The other wheels are OK. I have not noticed that sound again, even on the same turns as before.

I want to get 4 wheel alignment done in the near future as I’m refurbing a set of daisies. If I have some play in one of the wheels then its a waste of time doing the alignment. Shocks and ARB links are new. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Power steering

Wheel bearing; the hub isn’t ordinarily rebuildable. It seems on cars with power steering, because many drivers will often turn the wheels before moving the car, this can accelerate bearing wear.

Thanks for this. I’ll look into it.
