Polish

Just bought some Mer Ultimate Car Polish to try tomorrow, before doing so can you give me some reports,if it is rubbish, thenit can go back before we use it cheers… Lance and Bitty (the wife).

Mer is a 3-in-1 product (cleaner, polish, sealant). As 3-in-1s go, Mer is OK but you will achieve a much better finish and protection by using separate products and putting the effort in.

If your paint is in reasonably good condition (not particularly scratched or oxidised) then I would recommend using a clay bar and a decent carnauba-based paste wax. If your paint is dulled by oxidisation and/or has light scratches evident then a good polish woud be required as an intermediate step. Autoglym Super Resin Polish would be worth a try for this.

There are a wide range of professional products available to the enthusiast and the art of maintaining paintwork (“detailing”) is a subject in its own right and is comprehensively covered on the internet.

I love this stuff, well i use to,i used MER for 20 odd years but found over the last couple of years it is just not what it use to be,so now i use a fine clay bar, autoglym resin once a year and wash them with halfords car shampoo to keep the shine, and it works for me and niggle.

+1 as per niggle, also use Autoglym high definition wax on top, fantastic results.

Tried the Mer,must say really pleased, people havepassed comment on the finish, should we use Auto Glymm high definition wax on top of this…

Thanks Bitty and Lance… Also which do you think is the best treatment for a mohair soft top which is in reallygood conditionthanks again…

Use the HD wax on top it will give a deeper longer tasting shine, some photo’s would be nice of your hard work, for your mohair hood if it aint broke why fix it, sure someone else will know the correct advice and reply soon.

Can not go wrong with this stuff

Renovo Cleaner and Ultra-Proofer work for me too, although I have not tried any other manufacturer’s products yet for comparison.

I think the cleaner is a bit too good as it may have removed what was left of the previous water proofer. Consequently it took two coats of Ultra-Proofer before rain would bead up properly on the roof.

I will probably use an alternative, cheaper water proofer next time but I will stick with the Renovo Cleaner for the time being.

3M machine glaze , followed by 2 layers of  zymol titanium wax

sometimes when im feeling energetic i use simoniz wax buts its alot of work to buff off

awesome shine thats lasts and lasts
