Polished Stainless Steel V's Chrome

I have a few bits of chrome in the interior at present, vent rings, gear knob etc and want to fit the heater suround and cover around the hazard switch,

I thought I might save a fair bit and buy the polished stainless ones but am concerned that they will look cheap compared to the chrome, has anuone fitted the stainless parts and cares to comment?

If its a case of ‘buy cheap buy twice’ I will hang on and get the chrome stuff.

The vent rings and the hazard & pop-up headlight switch are the chrome plastic ones from MX5PARTS. The plate behind the heater control sliders is a stainless steel one I made to save cash.  Re polishing all the plastic knobs improves the overall look too. I also made a SS washer to fit behind the blower button.

Looks great to me, I think I will get stainless and spent the extra on fuel,

The polished knobs look awesome - attention to detail and very clever. So much for a 5 minute job though now as I have to have a go at that, did you polish them by hand or machine?

How come you haven’t chromed that nylock and washer in the cubby hole? [:D]

You can buy a small polishing kit for polishing plastic from “The Polishing Shop”. You will be amazed how good this kit is particularly for polishing the rear light clusters. It contain two small polishing mops and two grades of compound with a small mandrel to fit into an electric drill.

Normally that cubby hole has Cd’s and such like in there so you wouldn’t normally see it. There’s always some one ready to try and catch you out isn’t there?[:D][;)]
