The Meguiars products are worth the money in my experience. I just got some cheap micro fibre towels from Halfords and 2x buckets (one dirty and one clean)

I’m sure you will get various answers to your question, but for me personally after jet washing /shampooing all the dirt and grit off, its a case of polishing and waxing with a good quality polish and wax, ( strictly following the instructions ) , I use Meguiars or Turtle wax , and Microfibre cloths, its labour intensive but worth it .
Apparently the laquer/paint on the MX5s is soft so bear that in mind.
