Polishing stone chip paint

Probably a silly question but can you polish the stone chip paint on the bottom of the doors and sills? I’ve tried before but the polish wouldn’t buff off again properly

I’ve never had a problem with it. What are you polishing it off with? Perhaps you need something with deeper fibre.

I use a microfiber cloth but it’s an old one so might need replacing

Give it a wash in the washing machine but do not use fabric conditioner. It will have a new lease of life.

Shouldn’t be a problem just go easy if you’re using a machine as the top coat may not be as thick on the bumps.

Use plenty of polish and just do a small area at a time if it’s not buffing off.

Thanks for the help, it came out really well in the end

No problem, I’m glad to hear it! What product did you use out of interest?

Meguiars ultimate compound and meguiars cleaner wax. I was going to polish as well but the compound did such a good job that I didn’t need to

The stone chip paint finish came up lovely on my previous Mk1. Black a notorious colour for showing any imperfections or polish residue. I used Autoglym products, the method I used was to not let the polish/wax dry on the stone chipped areas, so on/off and buff up quickly.
