Like another poster, I’ve noticed a fuel smell on my Mk1 1.8iS. I only picked the car up Saturday so don’t know it’s history but previous owner did a lot of work himself. I’ve noticed a slight drip from under the engine, running off the undertray. I assumed the fuel filter was at the rear, but am unsure what the item in the picture is. There is a third pipe from the bottom of this dropped down onto the tray which seems to leak occasionally. The end of the pipe has a fitting which suggests it should be ‘plugged’ into something?
Hi and welcome, that thing is called a charcoal canister something to do with emissions in japan for it to be leaking I think its working ok, lots of owners remove this with all pipes feeding it but just bung up any tubes feeding it. Your engine if its the one in the pick is a 1.6 Eunos tell tails are coil pack on right hand side air con fitted ie twin fans. Seeing that your in North Wales why not come to The Bunch Of Fives meetings the first Sun of every month at Costa a55 Westbound ch76hb Ill go through 12 years of ownership of mine, cheers Rob.
