Powder Coating

Hi everyone. Has any club member come across this powder coating kit and /or used one?

Nope, although I’m happy to let the pro’s do it for me… we use ‘Autoblast’ near us in Ashington, West Sussex. Good prices/good job.

There’s powder coating and then there’s so called power coating. Proper powder coating is part of an electrical process, where the plastic powder is spayed on to an electrical charged surface. The powder is then melted and cured in an oven, so it sets like a hard coat on the object.

Then there’s a powder mix, which needs a chemical additive to melt and help it set - not as good.

Then there’s the rest, where the word ‘powder coat’ is applied to make you think it’s as good as the correct way - it ain’t.

A powder gun? New idea, but not the same as the right process, and logic says spray could go anywhere, and it may block the gun head sooner or later.

Like any process, you get what you pay for IMHO.
