Hey,
So have decided to bite the bullet and do a power steering conversation to my mk1 mazda as I’m having looooads of odd steering issues.
I’m in need, if possible, of a list of parts that I will need as planning on getting them off of a car that is being broken - can anyone supply me with a list?
Guessing at steering rack, column…
Any help would be great! (please don’t send me a link to an online site to buy them had a browse online and struggling to decipher exactly what bits I need!)
Thanks,![]()

Most of the breakers will make up a kit try Autolink or any of the other MX5 breakers that post here.
Hi ,we break mx5,s only and we have complete kits in good condition. I have sold several to members here and on Nutz and all worked out well. Kit includes ,rack ,pump, bottle, pipes, cooling pipe ,bolts etc. Everything you need really. Column is the same and does not need to be changed. PM me if your interested and we can arrange delivery via Paisley Freight to your door.Robert.

I’m facing the same dilema to make our mk1 more driveable i.e. park!, if only to engage my wife in a great driving experience.
at other speeds its fine, which is why I’m hesitating
Its a shame Mazda took power steering off in the design to offer a low cost/basic spec (sorry to tell you that)
This link gives an insight on parts, procedure, and potential cost.
There are guys on the OC forum with business who will do it all for you for say £300 to £500.
I’m still looking at parts on Ebay and will choose my moment, but not when the sun is shining.
Good luck…
