Power supply under bonnet

  1. My model of MX-5 is: _mk1
  2. I’m based near: _burton
  3. I’m looking for technical help or electrical recommendations on: _supply

I am looking to fit replace existing horn with air horn. Looking for best place to take power from. 30a fuse. I can see one of the fuses 30 with the description Retraction. Can anyone tell me what this is for or a good power source. Thanks

Headlamps??

There is a spare blue plug on the passenger side inner wing that is fused from the wipers I think. It’s only live with ign on though. It’s there to power a timing light etc.

Thank you for your help on this. Will look on passenger side for the spare.

You will need to power the horn via a relay probably supplied with the horns??

I would use the standard horn output to drive the relay coil and simply fit an inline fuse direct to the battery to the relay contact.

PS … I think on your model the battery is in the boot but If I’m correct the engine relays and fuse box in the engine compartment has a battery connection on the Main Fuse on the box; I expect the main fuse connections are nuts/bolts … ready for you to connect a crimp tag and in-line fuse.
