i’ve been quoted £300 for the full set. Dont buy the poor quality ones off ebay! they are cheap for a reason! go for polybush.

What is the reason?

Does anyone know precisely the differences between the polyurethane bushes sold at £90 on ebay, £200 sold by AutoLink and £300+ sold by PowerFlex et al?

if I’ve got a car that feels pretty much fine, are poly bushes a magic upgrade?  am I going to notice the difference more than, say, a 4 wheel alignment?  Only ask as I’m kind of jonesin’ after getting them done and could do with being talked out of it.!

If you replace all of the suspension bushes you will still need a full alignment afterwards. There are plenty of owners that are delighted with the way their car handles on what are probably quite old original rubber bushes but with proper wheel alignment.

Obviously if some of the rubber bushes are worn to such an extent that handling is poor even after alignment then replacement is probably on the cards and poly bushes may come into consideration, as some of the genuine Mazda rubber bushes can seem expensive compared to some of the cheaper poly bushes.

Hi there

Was it somewhere local to you that quoted that much to do the bushes?  We’re not that far from Stoke On Trent - we’ve bought a full set and are in the process of deciding whether to try and do this ourselves or get somebody else to do it

Thanks

Kathryn

 hi Kathryn,

the quote was from Paul sheards in congleton. i too have bought a full set, just been saving up to get them fitted

Thanks for the info Chris!

How did the refit go. I did mine myself, with lowered springs and new Ebach shocks…  made on hell of a difference. Make sure you get new alignment adjusters, it will make it easier to adjust for the guy doing it…

Oh, and one thing. I told my insurance company I had done this job, and they cancelled my insurance, saying they wouldnt accept modifications without an engineers report… Thanks Asda…

Mazda designed a certain amount of self-steering into the rear
suspension with two different durometers for the front/rear bushes in
the rear wishbones, this was to promote toe-in when lateral loads are
applied during hard cornering.

(Dont ask me what Durometer means) Thinking

Do Poly Bushes allow for this ?

Hmmm… I recognise that statement. Wonder where that came from then? Wink

Durometer means hardness. If the polybush suppliers include two different hardnesses for the front and rear bushes then it will replicate the self-steering as designed in by Mazda, I doubt that they do though.

Sorry Niggle…Just thought it was relevant Wink

Yes, it’s quite relevant and I can’t find my original post so good job! Thumbs up

niggle your amazing!

charlie

Its in Transmission section Niggle.

But reading thru all the sections it seems to be quite a common problem these days. Power On/Off steering.

Maybe those durometrically matched bushes are starting to give up the ghost ?

I’ve fitted a set of poly bushes, can’t remember which brand but they had different colour bushes for the rear lower wishbones which were different hardnesses.
