Private Number Plate

 J 1.6 BBR on my…yes you guessed it…J reg’d 1.6 BBR - and I promised myself I’d never buy a ‘vanity’ plate Shock

That’d be ideal for us, Kerry & Jan Schofield = KJS !!

A friend was about to buy a new MX5, the Mk2, and it happened that I was footling around teh DVLA website and found MX54SUE, his wife’s name being Sue. I mentiond it to him the next day and his face fell, went quiet for a bit, phoned the wife, and befor elong shelled out the £1k that DVLA were asking for it. I’m not sure if he likes me or hates me for finding it!!

Hey KerryS, I remember seeing it outside Sunwin Mazda back in 2004 the day we picked our new MX5 up, silver if I remember correctly

Well I don’t have a private plate on mine, it’s fairly near the bottom of the ‘things I might buy one day’ list.  But I did notice something when I posted photos of it on Pistonheads and thought I’d better blank off part of the number plate; the first and last characters are M----X!!!

That’s the one! Their collection was delayed as Sue had her p/x stuffed up the back on her way to collect, so their was a bit of debate as to who should do what. They still have the car with 21k on it.

If you want to know what vehicle a particular plate is on then use the Nation Tyres website at www.national.co.uk If you put a registration number in the search box it will tell you the vehicle type and age. When your mate has a private plate to disguise the age you can find out the truth! A bit of playing tells me that M1ATA is indeed on an MX-5. There’s one that I’m sure would be of interest to a lot of owners which is MX51CON. That is shown as being on a LHD Smart car! It’s a two seater but not exactly the sort of thing that desreves a plate like that.

I bought *** 9366 many years ago and recently was offered *** 9365 which I bought for Angela, very chavvy but I think it looks cool when they are parked side by side on the drive.

not 5 related but Clio owners are having a good time at the moment with CL10 ***  plates I notice…

Mine is not a personalised plate as such but hubby says it is, L***XTC - he says it means Liz is in ectasy!! (especially when I’m driving)

By coincidence my son & daughter both have plates that happen to have their initials in (but not on MX5’s) neither realised until the cars were home!!

Spotted a BSM driving school Clio in Lincoln with CL10 BSM.

not mx ,but  36 years ago my wife bought me, as a tenth wedding anniversary present   REG321 , it was advertised at  £25  plus the £5  transfer fee, wife asked the seller if he would include the transfer for the  £25, as that all she had at the time, the seller said NO and put the phone down, a couple of hours later he phoned my wife back, and said that he had mentioned the number was a present for our wedding anniversary, and his wife then said= get back to that lady “you tight sod” and include the transfer as well, otherwise you dont get any dinner tonight,

well, its now 36 years since i was given a thin oblong package as an anniversary present, and im glad to say that the contents have been on all the vehicles i have owned. since.

lets face it,the numbers game doesn’t mean a lot,but it can certainly brighten up an otherwise dull days motoring

I think this one`s quite apt…All be it nought to do with MX-5s

One of my work colleagues has one for sale for about £500 I believe - HA54 MXS (has a mx5).

not MX5 But I have H15 - - - did have a plate made up as H I 5 - - - (high five) until I was pulled by the local constable in a BMW x5 but thank fully he let me off
