I’ve a problem with my rear number plate lights which keep working themselves loose. I’ve tried new Mazda rubber gaskets but the light fittings still worked themselves loose after a while. I’ve now used double sided sticky tape which appears to be working. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a more permanent screwed solution?
I did heat up the locking tabs on mine and prise them a bit so they held in the aperture better.
No problems with them working loose.
Looks like you have had some work done under there.
Have the light apertures been fettled out bigger when the standard rust issues there were done perhaps?
Hi Wilier 1,
Thanks for your message, and yes the area around the lights had some superficial rust which I cleaned up, treated and then resprayed a couple of years ago. It’s possible that this may be the cause of my problem. Interesting idea about heating the unit. I’ll try that next time it falls off.

Not heating up the whole unit, just the locking tabs if you can👍🏻
Splat a load of silicone sealant around it when in place
Put some LED bulbs in before sealing.
They are far better.
Some thin double sided sticky tape should sort it, (I know you have but this is number plate strength stuff).
As in this and whatever length you might want for anything else.
Hi - many thanks for that tip.

Not a problem.
You could also put a piece of foam/rubber (or similar) in the “V” bit.
That should help keep the plastic expanded and will also allow you to fit it as well.
