Problems obtaining Mazda spare parts

At the end of last year I had a split in the top power steering hose causing air to enter the system. My local Mazda dealer took over two weeks to source the replacement hose.
Currently I have an oil leak from the spigot on the oil cooler assembly due to rust. I have failed to source a second hand part for my 2010 mk 3.5 1.8 MX5 and the Mazda dealer told me there was a minimum of two week waiting time for the part and wanted to charge me £350 for supplying it.
As I didnt want to be without my daily runabout I spent an afternoon ringing around and fortunately found Mazpart in Cannock who had the parts in stock and were a great deal cheaper than the Mazda dealer.
Am I just unlucky or is there a serious problem obtaining parts from Mazda? I would be interested to hear if other owners are experiencing the same problems?

There are significant problems obtaining parts, even for the newer cars, I’ve know of people waiting months for their car to be repaired after accidents owing to waiting on parts for the repair.

Try Pirtek.
Custom tubes is what they do.
At a price.

I wonder if this is true of JDM cars.

EUDM cars have parts sourced through Mazda’s Belgium facility. JDM owners, if they find a dealer who has paid for access to the global parts database, can get parts ordered from Japan. If in stock, its 5 working days to come in, shipping FOC.

I waited 8 weeks for a head gasket for a nearly new RF
Consequently the insurance wrote the car off

Its the spigot on the oil cooler thats the problem not the hose. So I need a new oil cooler assembly not a hose, which would have been much easier to get.

Not just a Mazda problem. My wife’s Mercedes’ is still waiting a sensor which was ordered two months ago.

Looks like that cooler etc is really a Ford part as well.
Checked Pirtek in Telford .
They knew exactly what it is but they’d need the cooler on their bench.
Apparently they are made of brie cheese.
Cheap krap.
So if anyone else has an issue…forget trying to source used items according to Autolink.
