Problems with a Panasonic DVD recorder solved!

Big Smile Just thought I’d pass this on.

Recently our Panasonic  DMR-EX75 DVD/Hard Drive recorder stopped tuning into Freeview programmes. I though it was replacement time ( £200+ ), but luckily decided to Google to see if there was any information on this problem. It turned out there was lots!

Apparently a particular Capacitor is prone to fail on this and several other Panasonic recorders of around this vintage causing this particular problem, a replacement is easily obtainable at around £2.30 for 3! and fairly simple to replace ( Well I managed It! )

All now working fine again. Great!

Should any of you have a simular problem I would be happy to point you at the relevant articles on the web and suggest suppliers of the capacitor, just PM me.

Regards

There apear to be lots of hard drive recorders with that fault, I did the same with a Thomson box and as you say a few pounds and a soldering iron saved the day.

If you do this yourself make sure you use the proper low ESR capacitor otherwise you will be scratching your head.

Also - there is a 8 pin SMD regulator which fails if the 100uf 25v cap blows.if your lucky its just the 680uf 6.3v.

i know them well Geek
