Hi Has anyone used Puncture Safe in their tyres? I have had Puncture Safe recommended but another contact says putting it in the tyre affects the balance - has anyone any experience please? The product website says initial (1st few miles) driving will distribute Puncture Safe over the crown area of the tyre but it will take another 1500+ miles for the FlexxaGel to activate giving more coverage of the sidewall. Also it says it was been developed to prevent migration from the sidewall and the tread area at high speeds. My wife and I are driving our MX5 to Lake Garda later in the year and would like something more than the liquid supplied with the car which you only put in when you get a puncture. So is there anyone out there using it please and is it any good or does it affect the balance? Many thanks for your time.
I’ve been using Ultraseal (same as Puncture Safe I think?) in my bikes for about 10 years since a spate of expensive punctures and have never (knowingly) had one since. I don’t use it in the cars as they always have a spare. However, with the space saver in the MX5 I might leave it home and use Ultraseal if doing a long trip like yours. Re. balance issues. If you put the correct amount in there shouldn’t be any problems and I’ve done well over double the UK speed limit on Ultraseal equipped bikes on numerous ocassions with no problems. Only down side is that tyre fitters hate the stuff and will moan and winge when you get the tyres changed, but gives them something to do…
