- My model of MX-5 is: __98 NB
- I’m based near: __Guildford, Surrey
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _ I have a squeaky passenger quarterlight window. When opening and closing the door it happens, sometimes when driving on bad roads. Is there something loose which simply needs tightening below the door panel?
Thank you
Yes the window post bolts in, reached from behind the door card. Is it physically loose when the main window is lowered?
Yes, loose when the window is down, but also squeaks when window up and driving sometimes. I bought new door bushings which sorted a lot of squeaks (amazingly) but yes, just this last little one. Thank you Mick. I will investigate behind the door card today and check to see if those quarter light bolts are loose
It’s a good idea to check the weather strip across the top of the door too. These wear out and cause the window to rattle/squeak when driving with the window down, sometimes up too. Caused mostly with wear and tear and who’s not pushed on the door glass to close or even open the door?
Thank you. I think the weather strips are okay. It’s the actually window which squeaks. I can shake it and it’s quite loud
On closer inspection today the squeak is present with the window up and down. When i move the top corner of the quarter light the squeak comes from somewhere near the bottom door hinge and feel like something is moving against the door card. As I said, need to get the card off and have a look in there
