Anyone recently done something like this trip? How much will it cost?
That would depend on how much you are paying for fuel and how you drive (mpg is effected by driving style).
It is about 275 miles from Margate to York so given the price of petrol here (1.40 per litre) and the way I drive my MK1 (steady high speed when possible) gives me 35 mpg it works out at about 18 pence per mile so that would be £49.50 so say £100 return trip.
If you drive more sedatly 40mpg = 16 pence per mile = £88 return
If you drive nearer the limit say 30mpg = 21 pence per mile = £115.
Thats a big differance between best and worst £27.
BTW I have had to budget £150 for fuel for my weekend away at the spring rally as it looks like about 750 miles all in.

It is in line with what I had come up with using one of the online fuel calculators. I wanted to confirm I had entered all the right figures! Maths not always my strongest subject either.
