Quiddenham Children's Hospice...Charity Links

A few months ago, Jamie and I were talking about the possibilities of the Eastern Region MX5 club forming some ‘links’ with Quiddenham Children’s hospice. We wondered whether the children and families might enjoy a convoy of MX5s turning up one sunny day, perhaps hosting a picnic in the grounds or something like that?  So I contacted their charity person, and apparently many clubs such as ours do try to offer to fund raise or arrange events, so to help us think about this, they host ‘open’ evening events, where they show you round the hospice and discuss possible fund raising suggestions.

The next open evening just happens to be Wednesday 18th March, which is our regular Norfolk meet evening.  It would last for an hour, and starts at 6.00pm.  No children or families will be there on that evening, but it is an opportunity to look at the hospice, discuss fund raising suggestions, and in our case talk to key workers about whether any of the children would like to see our cars.  (Apparently a motor bike club turned up once, which was very popular!)

I will definitely go along to try and find out further information, but wondered if one or two other members wanted to come with me?  I need to let the hospice know a few days before, so if you are able to get to Quiddenham for 6.00pm please let me know (either by responding to this post, or by email) but otherwise I can update people at the Countryman at 8.00pm, followed by a further post on the forum.

I hope this is something that people are happy for me to be doing on ‘our’ behalf?  But at this stage, I am simply finding out options.

Quiddenham Childrens Hospice were my Round Table’s (Norwich No 1) chosen charity last year and were v helpful, grateful and v needing of both ours and other general support.

I think they are a very well deserving cause and well worth organising an event to support them!

 Hi Jude

where is Quiddenham?  I might be able to make it depending on how long it will take me to get there.  I’ll leave work at 5.00pm from Ipswich.

Let me know directions and I’ll try my best. [:)]

 Hi Guys

I have done a little bit of homework…  Quidenham Hospice is part of EACH, the East Anglian Children’s Hospice.  To quote from the EACH website;

http://www.each.org.uk/

What we do, and where and how we do it…

We are a registered charity that cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and complex healthcare needs - we also support their families.

We deliver a full range of children’s hospice care services in family homes throughout Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex, or in one of three hospices at Milton near Cambridge, Quidenham in Norfolk and Ipswich in Suffolk.

So check out the area covered, the exact same geographical area as the Eastern Region.!!!

So my vote is to support EACH, and not just Qidenham, to cover and be relevant to our whole region, and that way all Eastern Region members who then get involved would be making a contribution to something local to them.

What do you reckon ?

[:D]

Thanks for the comments and the encouragement.  Martin, you are quite right it is the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH) I just happened to refer to it as Quiddenham, as that was the individual hospice that I was thinking about, sorry!  But the geography does sound as though it matches ours really well, so hopefully Katie and I will go along next week and being able to provide some information for us all to consider.

Katie, Quiddenham is somewhere near Snetterton on the A11 I believe.  But I will have a look on the map and text you details!  Really pleased you are going to try and come along with me.  Anyone else who wants to join us, please drop me a message.  If not, look out for the post update!  [:)]
