R Limited on carandclassic M259GMW

If anyone is interested in this I have a copy of the Japanese history/ auction report that I’m happy to pass on.

I bought my Eunos from this dealer a few years ago. It was all as described and I was very happy with the dealer and the deal.

Unable to comment on the car itself though.

The other year he was selling my old Miata which had been written off in 2004, claiming it had been damaged by a woman with a supermarket trolley.
The rear wheel was ripped off in the accident and I suffered whiplash.

I had a deposit on the car but the report raised a number of questions for me.

Also has the wrong dash for an R Limited.

To be fair he was spot on when I sent him the report and he sent me my deposit straight back.

Registered in Uk in 2018, MOT expired in 2019…

Would that be flagged up in an insurance claim check? I’ve just bought a Eunos from someone who bought the car from Goodwood Sportscars. The seller told me he had to spend two grand rectifying problems. I wouldn’t buy a car from this dealer.

You can check a cars MOT history for free on the government website

The UK check will show clean as the collision damage was in Japan not the UK. It may well be fine but without any understanding or inspection who knows. Japan doesn’t have a Cat S/D system. Though they do allow you to repair a car for export that can no longer be used in Japan due to the extent of damage.

That’s quite worrying, but then I suppose the risk of buying a Eunos is you have no idea about the car’s life in Japan. Maybe it’s more sensible to buy a UK mark 1 with a good service history and no insurance claims recorded against it.

How did you get hold of the Japanese history and auction report?

There’s a number of providers. An example is https://carvx.jp/

About £18, other companies will do the same report but with a full translation at approx £30.

Thanks Geoff. How do you pay for a report in sterling? The price for my report is 3,500 yen. There doesn’t seem to be an option to convert that to sterling.

I used PayPal. They convert it to sterling.

This how the dealer explained the 2004 damage that resulted in the write off of H341LNA whilst in my ownership.
I was gobsnacked, so made a copy direct from the Car and Classic advert.
Just found it in my records.

"back in 2004, this car was involved in a bizarre accident resulting in it being classed as a category d insurance write off. While in a car park, the nice lady in the car next to it was struggling to lift a pushchair out of her car and dropped it onto the rear wing of the mazda, denting it badly. Values of these cars were so low back then that the insurance company refused to repair it. I saw the damage and after the car was repaired, bought it.”

Was the pushchair the size of a truck?

It was a Sierra that hit me, ripped the subframe from the body shell

This post suprises me.
I’ve had at least 2 cars that had come via him.
Both were rsltd and both had a bit of work done to be ready for sale. They were both good cars though…
Let’s face it they’re old cars and are pretty rare now so now. So I’m not surprised they’ve some history.
The rltd looks nice though
