RACE of REMEMBRANCE 2016 Do you want to take part

MX-5 Owners Club Race Team

Race of Remembrance 2016

Would you like to take part!

By Peter McNicol - Motorsport Co-Ordinator

After the great success of last year the Club has managed to secure two entries into the Race of Remembrance to be held at Anglesey Race Circuit over the weekend of 11th/13th November 2016. This event is a 10hr Endurance race held over a period of two days with a short period of night racing involved. The unique part of this event is when the race is stopped for the Remembrance Parade which is held on the Sunday morning in the pit lane. The Team cars will be a MX5 Mk1 prepared and supplied by Brian Chandler, last year’s BRSCC MX5 Mk1 champion and my personal car which we are offering up as the second team car.  As like last year we will be holding an academe selection process, looking for club members to come forward and apply to be part of the Clubs Race team, we are after people that have never raced before as well as those holding a race licence. Last year the club had the oldest and the youngest driver taking part in this great event.  To get more information and an entry form, interested members are asked to contact myself on peter.mcnicol@mx5oc.co.uk  or 07950305669 for an entry package. Entry packages will also be available at the Spring Rally on the Motorsport Stand.  Selection for the team will be by applying for an entry package from myself, successful applicants will then be invited to have an interview at the Blyton weekend over the 11th/12th June (applicants will need to have booked to take part in this event) followed by a driving assessment by a qualified racing instructor.  We are not looking for the Next Ayrton Senna, we are looking for people that can sensibly drive a car on circuit and bring it home for the next driver, after all first you have to finish before you can get a result. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,

As one of the MX5 OC selected drivers for last years event I cannot recommend this enough for, either a complete track novice or hardened professional. The event is superb, the support from the OC and the members that came along to assist in anything from tea making to pit wall duties.

It was all was amazing and the camaraderie for the whole weekend was one of the best experiences of my life and I was soo glad to raise sponsorship money for this amazing charity that allowed me to take part.

I am hoping to be there again this year and I look forward to seeing some new faces there also, as well as at the Blyton Bash in June.

Billy (Andy)

Peter I had a great time last year as the assistant garage monkey, gofer etc and I’ll be there again this year although I’ll have better waterproofs this year

This is a great event and I would recommend it to anybody.

Ian

This sounds like an actual dream :o

I’ll come have a chat at the spring rally!

I will look out for you, we will have a big stand with the Blyton sponsors this year.

Pete

Are you at curborough on the 9th April by any chance? I shall be making my first club appearance there.
